Losing a loved one is always a difficult time in Floridian's life. It can be even more difficult if that loss is due to the negligence of another. This can lead to anger and frustration towards the party involved. But it can also lead to a claim for wrongful death.Wrongful death claims can be filed against anyone from a big corporation to a single individual if they are involved in, or responsible for, the death of another. A 23 year old was killed after a fatal beating. His family had filed a wrongful death claim against two local bars that they claim were responsible for the death. His family claims that the individuals who actually attacked the victim were served alcohol in the bars. They claim that the bars served the individuals when they were clearly drunk and two of them were not of legal age to drink.The incident occurred when the victim tried to hail a cab. The individuals who were in the car behind the taxi thought the victim was yelling at them. The men got out of the car and beat the victim to death.One of the three men pleaded guilty to third degree murder. He was sentenced to up to 10 years in prison. The other two men pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter. They face up to five years in prison. All three men have also been named in the wrongful death suit.A wrongful death claim can provide the family with compensation for their loss.
