Motorcyclist killed in accident near Florida High School

August 23, 2013

Owning a motorcycle may be an item on the bucket list of many Florida residents. Motorcyclists enjoy the freedom and contact with the open air that can't be replicated in a car. In addition, motorcycles can also have better gas mileage than cars - an important consideration in today's economy. However, motorcycles can also be much more dangerous than a car. Motorcycles do not have the safety features of a car which makes motorcycle accidents much more deadly. They do not have windshields or seatbelts or airbags like a car does. Sadly, a deadly motorcycle accident occurred recently here in Florida. The local police department responded to a call regarding the accident after a caller indicated that one had occurred behind a High School and involved an SUV and a motorcycle.Witnesses to the accident said that the motorcyclist was moving quickly when it and the SUV collided. . The motorcyclist suffered catastrophic injuries and was taken to the nearby Orlando Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead soon after arriving due to the injuries he sustained in the crash. The driver of the SUV was also treated at the nearby hospital as well and was released having sustained minor injuries. The accident is still under investigation. It is unknown whether drugs or alcohol were involved. In many situations with similar unfortunate results to the crash noted above, motorcycle accidents are caused by the negligence of another driver. In some cases, this may be due to a vehicle driver not seeing a motorcycle, which takes up less space on the road and can "disappear" more easily into a driver's blind spot. Of course, if the negligence of a driver leads to an accident and a motorcyclist is injured, ,the motorcyclist may be entitled to compensation for medical bills or lost wages. On the other hand, if an accident leads to an untimely death, the family of the victim may be able to file a wrongful death lawsuit to recover similar damages.
