Driving is an efficient and convenient mode of transportation. But driving can also lead to car accidents. Car accidents can be due to a variety of causes that range from texting to drinking, both of which are considered negligence. In many cases, the driver causing the accident may owe the other driver compensation for damages caused. An accident that occurred early Sunday morning left a Jupiter police officer with serious injuries. Another driver who had fallen asleep behind the wheel on I-95 hit the officer. The accident occurred north of Military Trail. The other driver fell asleep while driving northbound. He hit the concrete median and then veered into the Officer's path. The accident caused the officer's car to overturn and crash into a tree before coming to a stop on the shoulder. The officer was just leaving the county jail when the accident occurred. He was taken to the hospital Sunday after the accident and listed in serious condition. He was released from the hospital Monday. The other driver was not injured in the crash. Because car accidents can vary so much in severity, the injuries resulting from the crashes can also vary greatly. Injuries can range from minor scrapes and scratches to head injuries or broken bones or even death. Accidents can also vary in how much damage is done to the vehicles involved. The damage can also vary from minor scratches and dings to a totaled car. If the car accident is due to the negligence of the other driver, the victim may be entitled to compensation. In many cases, the severity of the damages affects the amount of compensation the victim may be able to get. The compensation may include reimbursement for medical bills, lost wages and property damage.
