Motorcyclist, SUV crash leaves 1 dead in Florida

August 2, 2013

The summer is the time of year in Florida when everyone wants to spend as much time outside as possible. One great way to spend time outside is by riding a motorcycle. Motorcycles can save money on gas as well as give the rider additional time in the out-of-doors while travelling to and from other activities. But the downside of motorcycling is that the risk of being in a deadly motorcycle accident is higher than the risk of being in a deadly car accident.Recently, a Florida motorcyclist lost his life in a fatal accident. The accident occurred when an SUV turned in front of the motorcyclist. The SUV was traveling southbound and the motorcyclist was traveling northbound. The SUV then made a left turn in front of the motorcyclist causing the motorcycle to hit the side of the SUV. The force of the accident ejected the motorcyclist from the motorcycle. The motorcyclist was taken to a nearby hospital where he was listed as in critical condition. He died soon after. The driver of the SUV and his passengers where treated at the scene but they did not go to the hospital. Police do not believe alcohol or drugs were involved. Many motorcycle accidents are due to the negligence of another driver. In many situations, a driver can be found negligent if they turn left in front of a motorcyclist who has the right of way, causing an accident that injures or kills the motorcyclist. If this is the case, the injured motorcyclist may be entitled to compensation for his or her injuries and damages.A motorcycle ride in the best weather of the year can quickly turn tragic should the ride be cut short in a motorcycle accident. When this happens, a negligence lawsuit could not only compensate accident victims financially, but can also hold those responsible accountable for their actions.
