Wrongful death claim for family of drive-by victim

Losing a loved one can be one of the most difficult times in any individual's life. This can happen at any time, but if it is due to the negligence of another it can be even more difficult. In many cases, fortunately,, the family may have a claim for wrongful death.The family of a 20-year-old who was killed while riding in a car with friends has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the individual who was convicted of the crime. She was killed on June 20, 2011, when a man and his friends shot her in the head in what appears to be a mistaken drive-by shooting. A Florida man has already been convicted and given a sentence of life in prison for the death of the girl. There were three others are arrested in connection with the girl's death who were charged as accessories to murder. Another woman was also charged in the incident. She allowed the individual who was ultimately convicted to use her vehicle and the gun used in the shooting was also registered to her.Even though a family may be going through a difficult time after losing a loved one, there is a two-year statute of limitations on filing a wrongful death claim. This statute of limitations begins on the date of the loved one's death. There are no rights to recover any damages after that period of time has passed.A timely wrongful death suit can bring the remaining family members much-needed compensation.
