Teen dies in car accident with bus

May 22, 2013

Driving is such a privilege that teens look forward to that they often count the days until they are allowed to get their licenses. Unfortunately, because teens have less experience driving, they are often at a higher risk of getting into a car accident. Some of these accidents may be deadly. A 16-year-old Inkster Michigan High School student lost her life Monday in a tragic car accident. Three other students also were injured in the crash. The crash occurred when the sedan that the four students were riding in had stopped at a stop light behind a pickup truck. A bus rear ended the sedan, causing the car to slam into the truck in front of it. The teen who died was the driver of the car.The other three passengers in the car were taken to the hospital after the crash. Two are still in the hospital. The other teen already has been released from the hospital. The accident is still under investigation. The driver of the bus was not arrested and has not been charged with any crime or traffic violation. The driver was tested for drugs and alcohol and he was not found to be under the influence of any illegal substance. As you can see, car accidents can range from fatal injuries to minor bruises or even to no injuries. The damage to the vehicle in an accident can also vary widely, from totaling the car to minor scrapes and dings.Oftentimes, accidents are due to negligence of one or both drivers. If a driver is injured in an accident that is due to the negligence of another, he or she may be entitled to compensation from the negligent driver. This compensation may include reimbursement for medical bills, car repairs and lost wages.Source: Fox 2 News, "Dearborn crash claimed 16-year-old Inkster High student's life," Ryan Ermanni, May 14, 2013
