Yankee Suzuki uninjured in weekend car accident in Tampa

March 15, 2013

Driving is one of the easiest and most efficient ways to get around. Unfortunately, driving can also lead to car accidents. Car accidents in turn can lead to serious, sometimes lifelong injuries. The possible injuries can range from minor cuts and bruises to broken bones and spinal cord injuries to even death. The silver lining to many accidents, however, is that if the accident is due to the negligence of another driver, the injured party may be entitled to compensation. This weekend, Ichiro Suzuki, a Yankees outfielder, was involved in a car accident. He reports that he is fine with no soreness from the accident. He was returning home from a spring training game against Detroit Saturday when he was involved in an accident only a few miles from the Yankee's field in Tampa. His SUV was totaled in the accident.Suzuki had a green light at an intersection near the stadium when another vehicle hit him in the intersection. The other driver was cited by local police.Car accidents can lead to a variety of injuries. Fortunately, Suzuki was uninjured in the accident but that is often times not the case, especially when the person's car is totaled. Accidents that are due to the negligence of another driver can result in compensation for any medical bills, future care, lost wages or property damages you may have suffered due to the accident.Distracted driving is becoming one of the most common causes of accidents. There are many possible distractions while driving such as changing the radio or temperature controls to the most common, cell phones. These activities requires that the driver take his or her eyes off the road for at least a few seconds. That often is all it takes for an accident to happen.Source: Times Union, "Suzuki OK after auto accident," Mar. 3, 2013
